Kendal W. Elmore is the District Executive Minister for the West Marva District. He grew up in the Southside Virginia community of Lawrenceville in Brunswick County. After high school he began college studies at Ferrum College in Virginia, where he met Carolyn Stone, who became his wife in 1966. He is completing his 48th year of set apart ministry within the Church of the Brethren. He has served congregations as pastor in the Middle Atlantic and Mid-West areas of the US. The Elmores are the parents of 4 married adult children and happy grandparents of 9 granddaughters, one of whom is in heaven. Additionally, one granddaughter is the married mother of a great grandson and is expecting a second child in the summer of 2018.
With Carolyn, who is also an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren, their ministry emphasis has been on congregational vitality and faithfulness to the Bible. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities in the West Marva District in 2010, Kendal has served as a consultant with a number of congregations, assisting them in assessing their strengths and weaknesses and the development of strategies for recovering vitality and initiating effective methods of evangelism.
Carolyn and Kendal enjoy sharing the gospel message in song and have led praise and worship in a variety of settings beyond local congregations, in conference, convention and retreat events.
